Zamfara Ward Head fingered in banditry activities

A Ward Head in Zamfara State, Abdulkadir Kado, known as Mai Unguwan Zailani, and another person, Bala Sani have been named as accomplices in banditry and other criminal activities in the Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

A 30-year-old Jabiru Muhammed, also known as Dan Oga, suspected to be a notorious bandit arrested by the police in Katsina, said this while he was being paraded before newsmen at the command’s headquarters.

The spokesman of the Police, Superintendent Gambo Isah said, in the course of the investigation, the 30-year-old bandit, Jabiru Muhammed, alleged that he worked under the command of a bandit he simply identified as, “Chairman,” currently hiding in Zamfara forest.

According to the police, the suspect further revealed that he participated in the raid of Saburu Village in Tsafe Local Government Area, where they kidnapped four children and were paid the sum of 2 million Naira ransom.

The suspect, who is also known as ‘Dan Oga’, revealed how they broke into shops in Unguwar Dodo Village, in the same Tsafe Local Government Area, and carted away foodstuff, among other items.

He further confessed to have participated in the attack of Saburu village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where four children were kidnapped, and the sum of two million Naira was paid.

The suspect also mentioned the Ward Head, known as Mai Unguwan Zailani, Abdulkadir Kado and Bala Sani, among his accomplices.

Isah said the investigation is ongoing, and the Police will charge the suspect and his accomplices to court.
