The residents had said that the gunmen arrived on Saturday at about mid-day to carry out their dastardly act, in the predominantly farming community, known for rice cultivation and local processing.
Governor Zulum, during the visit, was told that 43 bodies had been recovered, but that the death toll is still uncertain.
A resident told the governor, “…”Your Excellency., nobody can tell you the exact number of people killed. Some of the victims are still missing.”

Gov. Zulum said he has been discussing with the military, and assured that the remaining missing persons, will be traced and rescued.
Zulum said “…Our people are in very difficult situation. They are in two different extreme conditions. In one side, they stay at home they may be killed (sic) by hunger and starvation,; on the other, they go out to their farmlands and risk getting killed by the insurgents.”
He appealed to the Federal Government to recruit more youths into the Civilian Joint Task pq1Force, and hunters into the Nigerian military and the Civil Defence Corps, to form part of the Agro Rangers that will protect the farmers, given that they
understand the terrain.
