The Senate has issued a two-week ultimatum to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to explain ₦210 trillion flagged in audit reports spanning 2017 to 2023.

The Public Accounts Committee fixed April 29, 2026, for the appearance of the company’s leadership, directing Group Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Bayo Ojulari, to appear alongside former GCEO Mele Kyari, ex-Chief Financial Officer Umar Ajia, Dr. Bala Wunti, and external auditors — without fail.

Lawmakers say previous responses to 19 audit queries were unsatisfactory, insisting Nigerians deserve clear answers on the alleged unaccounted funds.

The committee is also demanding a detailed breakdown of ₦107 trillion reportedly spent on Joint Venture Cash Calls, as well as funds allegedly owed by unnamed defunct banks.

Concerns deepened after repeated failures by NNPCL officials to honour invitations, prompting calls for the National Assembly to invoke its powers to compel their appearance.
