Political activities in Kwara State have intensified as 158 aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) jostle for the party’s 24 tickets for the Kwara State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the aspirants during the screening exercise at the APC State Secretariat in Ilorin, the Chairman of the Screening Committee, Professor Success Musa, alongside the State APC Chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, assured contestants of a transparent and fair process while urging cooperation for a smooth exercise.
Despite the limited number of Assembly seats, political participation and interest continue to rise across the state with aspirants from different constituencies turning out in large numbers for the screening.
Some of the aspirants expressed confidence in the screening process, pledging to uphold sportsmanship and party unity regardless of the outcome.
Women, youths and elderly politicians were also actively represented as the race for legislative seats gathers momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
