Nigerian creatives who have distinguished themselves in the area of music-making are to be celebrated at the 16th Edition of the Headies Awards.
The organizers of the annual ceremony have come up with a list of nominees for the 2023 edition.
In the Best Female Artiste Category, Tems, Simi, Tiwa Savage, and Ayra Starr were nominated.
Best Male Artiste; Asake, Rema, Kizz Daniel, Ruger, Omah Lay, and Burna Boy.
In the Next Rated Artiste Category; Young John, Seyi Vibez, Asake, Victony, and Spyro made the nomination list.
Afrobeat Single Of The Year Category; Burna Boy’s song, “Last Last,” Ayra Starr’s “Rush,” Kizz Daniel featuring Tekno in the song “Buga,” Pheelz’ “Finesse” featuring BNXN, Spyro’s “Who’s Your Guy,” and Ruger’s song, “Asiwaju,” were nominated.
The Best Street-Hop Artiste Category is a voting category for artists whose songs are inspired by the streets.
Rexxie featured Naira Marley and Skiibi in the song “Abracadabra”, Seyi Vibez in the song “Chance (Na Ham)”, Asake’s “Joha”, Zlatan featured Young Jonn in the song “Astalavista”, Poco Lee and Hotkid in the single “Otilo” and Mohbad in the song “Peace”.
In the Best Music Video Category
Blaqbonez directed the song “Back In Uni”, “Peace Be Unto You” by Asake, directed by T.G. Omori, and Director Pink’s “Spell Remix” by Chike, featuring Oxlade.
TG Omori directed the song “Bandana” by Fireboy, featuring Asake. BurnaBoy’s “Common Person” by Director K and Rema’s “Calm Down” directed by Director K.
Headies Viewer’s Choice Awards: Ruger’s song, “Asiwaju” and Victony featuring Temple in the song “Soweto”. Firebox DML featuring Asake in “Bandana”, Ayra Starr’s “Rush”, Asake’s “Terminator”, Mavins’ “Overloading (Overdose)”, Crayon, in the song, “Ijo Laba Laba”, Oxlade’s “Ku Lo Sa”, by Kizz Daniel featuring Tekno in the song Buga,” and the song “Electricity” by Pheelz featuring Davido.
