Some companies have petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged 2.1-million-dollar land transaction involving Jordan Nyesom-Wike.
The petition seeks an investigation into allegations of fraud, obtaining money by false pretences, criminal misappropriation, and conversion.
According to the petition, the money was allegedly paid to Jordan to facilitate the allocation of some hectares of land in Katampe and Guzape, Abuja.
The petitioners further alleged that the money was paid in cash, with witnesses present, but the promised land allocations were not delivered. They also claimed that subsequent attempts to reach Jordan were unsuccessful.
Their lawyer explained that while the civil dispute is before the FCT High Court, the petition seeks an investigation into the alleged criminal aspects of the transaction.
Jordan has denied the allegations, maintaining that he was outside Nigeria during the period the claimants said the money was handed to him. He reportedly tendered his international passport before the court, stating that he travelled abroad using his American passport.
Meanwhile, Justice Silvanus Oriji of the FCT High Court adjourned the civil suit to December 1 for continuation of hearing.
