The trial of former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, and former Foreign Affairs Minister, Aminu Wali, was Monday stalled due to the absence of the presiding judge, Justice Lewis Allegoa, of the Federal High Court, Kano.
Shekarau was expected to open his defense in the money laundering charges bordering on N950 million the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaign fund levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Lead prosecution counsel, Johnson Ojogbane, said that the court had earlier fixed February 17 and 18 2020, for the defense to open their case after the court overruled their no-case submission.
Ojogbane said the absence of the presiding judge prompted a new date to be fixed for the opening of defense.
