Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, says the military was not involved in the controversial one-billion-naira arms procurement deal in 2018.
Speaking at the annual conference of the Defence Correspondents Association of Nigeria in Abuja, Buratai said the military was not given the funds for the procurement.
He maintained that the Ministry of Defence, and not the military, was responsible for the arms procurement deals.
Buratai’s remarks place the responsibility for the procurement process on the Ministry of Defence rather than the military service itself.
