The National Population Commission has begun trial census across the country ahead of planned National Population and Housing Census in 2023.
The exercise which is expected to end on March 30th,2022 is being piloted in 279 Local Government Areas selected from 30 States out of the 36 States and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
Possibilities of conducting the National Census in 2023 became clearer when the National Executive Council approved the exercise.
The exercise is to test the readiness of the commission to conduct the 2023 census.
Apart from the selected Local Government Areas from each of the six geo-political zones other areas have been mapped out for the exercise.
The Local Government Areas with full trial census are Daura in Kastina State,
Tongo in Adamawa State,
karu in Nasarawa State,
Ndemili in Anambra state,
Brass in Bayelsa State and
Imeho in Ogun State.
