It was mixed fortunes in the English Premier League (EPL) as the title race and relegation battle intensified on match day 36.
West Ham hosted Arsenal in one of the standout fixtures of the weekend. The Gunners secured a hard-fought 1-nil victory over the Hammers to boost their hopes of winning the Premier League title for the first time since their famous “invincibles” triumph 22 years ago.
Mikel Arteta’s side have now opened a five-point lead at the top of the table, while West Ham remain dangerously close to relegation.
Meanwhile, there was no winner in three other fixtures as Burnley and Aston Villa settled for a 2-2 draw.
Crystal Palace also played out a 2-all draw with Everton at Selhurst Park, while Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United shared the spoils in a 1-1 encounter.
