Some angry Women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State on Monday staged a peaceful protest in Akure, rejecting what they described as an altered list of candidates released after the party’s recent direct primaries.

Led by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Seun Osamaye, and the State APC Women Leader, Oluwayemisi Iji-Ayeola, the protesters alleged that the list circulating online did not reflect the outcome of voting across the state’s 203 wards.

They called on the APC National Secretariat to release what they described as the authentic results, insisting that the will of party members must be respected.

The women warned that failure to address their grievances could lead to further protests across the state, maintaining that the final outcome of the primaries must reflect the votes cast by party members.

They also appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership to ensure fairness, transparency and justice in the resolution of the dispute.

The protest follows Sunday’s announcement by the APC National Working Committee of the replacement of several National Assembly candidates in Ondo State.

The party said the decision was reached after reviewing petitions arising from the recently concluded primary elections.
