The 2027 elections may be three years away, however Interested political appointees in Nasarawa state seeking to run for political offices or supporting others for political offices have been advised to resign their appointments.
Governor of the state Abdullahi Sule gave the directive in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Mohammed Ubandoma Aliyu in Lafia the state capital
While noting with dismay that some political office holders under the present administration are actively participating in political activities, Governor Sule warned such persons against conducts capable of breeching the electoral act, as well as distracting the focus of his administration.
In the letter, appointees seeking to vie for political office apart from been advised to resign were also advised to wait for the lifting of the existing ban on political activities by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He warned that his administration would no longer condone such acts of disloyalty and insubordination from political appointees.
The letter emphasized that, with only one year into the second tenure of the administration, Governor Sule is focused on the delivery of infrastructural development, economic empowerment, and sustainable development of the state and as such could not afford to be distracted.
