The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP backed by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike says the publication of details of its Presidential and National Assembly Candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC puts to rest months of speculation over its participation in the 2027 general election, stressing that the development vindicates the party and silenced its critics.
The PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed says INEC’s publication formally confirms Senator Sandy Onor as the Party’s presidential candidate and Babangida Umar as Onor’s running mate for the 2027 Presidential election.
Jugundo adds that INEC’s action had effectively demolished what the party described as months of misinformation and propaganda aimed at convincing Nigerians that it would not field a presidential candidate.
The PDP paid tribute to party members and supporters, saying their loyalty sustained the Party through months of uncertainty and helped keep faith in its rebuilding efforts.
Turning to internal affairs, the PDP reiterates its commitment to reconciliation, inclusiveness and cohesion, saying unity remains central to its preparations for the 2027 elections.
The Party welcomes returning members and recent defectors, saying their decision reflect growing confidence in the PDP’s electoral prospects and its vision for the Nigeria.
The PDP assures Nigerians that, under the leadership of its National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, it would offer what it describes as a credible, competent and unifying alternative capable of restoring hope, strengthening National unity and delivering purposeful leadership.
