Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has urged judges to exercise caution in handling politically sensitive cases ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking at the 2026 Roundtable for Heads of Courts at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja, the CJN warned against forum shopping, concealment of related proceedings and conflicting court orders, stressing that political pressure must not override the law.
The CJN also called for faster case determination, transparent judicial appointments, punctuality in court sittings and improved treatment of litigants and lawyers.
She urged heads of courts to strengthen judicial accountability, promote professionalism and ensure that election-related disputes are handled impartially and in accordance with established legal procedures.
Earlier, NJI Administrator, retired Justice Babatunde Adejumo, said the roundtable provides a platform for judicial leaders to address common challenges and develop solutions to strengthen the Judiciary.
