The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has made the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 general election available online following concerns from Nigerians and other stakeholders over access to the register.
In a statement on Monday by the Commission’s National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, INEC says the register could now be accessed through its online platform at https://display.inecnigeria.org, in addition to the physical display earlier conducted nationwide.
INEC says the physical display exercise took place at Registration Areas across the country from October 9 to 15, 2026, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The exercise allowed registered voters to inspect their details and submit claims and objections as provided by law.
The Commission explains that the decision to publish the preliminary register online was informed by concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders about the need for wider access to the document.
According to INEC, the online publication is intended to complement the physical display and strengthen transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process.

INEC adds that it is still processing claims and objections arising from the exercise ahead of the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters scheduled for December 15, 2026 as it reiterates its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026 as it prepares for the upcoming 2027 general election.
