Presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement APM, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, South-West Nigeria has promised to prioritise job creation, skills training and manufacturing as part of his party’s agenda for Nigeria, with its manifesto scheduled for unveiling on November 4.
Makinde who said this at the APM South-East town hall meeting in Enugu State says the party has consulted Nigerians across the six geo-political zones to develop solutions to unemployment, poverty, insecurity and the trust deficit between leaders and citizens.
The APM’s Presidential Candidate says the party’s agenda rests on four pillars, including economic recovery, security restructuring, education reform and a reset of the socio-political space. He says the APM does not simply manufacture policies out of thin air but listens to Nigerians, hears what they want to see and incorporate their expectations into the party’s agenda.

He also discloses that the party had partnered with Skill Reset Nigeria to train one million young Nigerians in skills intended to improve their employment prospects.
He identifies high interest rates and inadequate access to long-term financing as major obstacles to manufacturing, promising to create a business environment that would encourage entrepreneurship and sustainable job creation.
Makinde urges Nigerians to reject religious and ethnic divisions, arguing that the country’s challenges are affecting everyone.
Makinde criticises President Bola Tinubu’s trip to Saudi Arabia to pray for Nigeria, saying leaders should combine prayers with honesty and action at home. He also says prayers can be answered here in Nigeria, stressing that he and members of the APM will rather remain in Nigeria to pray.
The Oyo Governor urges supporters to protect their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs and use them in the 2027 election, alleging that political opponents are distributing money to buy support and going about destroying the APM’s campaign materials.
The party’s vice-presidential candidate, Lawal Daura says the APM is committed to reforming the system and will sacrifice for the benefit of Nigerians.
On his part, the party’s National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle asks President Tinubu to withdraw from the 2027 Presidential race and support Makinde, citing the Oyo State Governor’s reported support for the President in 2023 and that Makinde will complete the remaining four years of the Southern Nigeria term.
