The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, says he will step down from his cabinet position if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu fails to secure victory in both the FCT and Rivers State in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during an engagement with leadership and members of the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja, Wike stated that his continued tenure as a cabinet minister is directly tied to his ability to deliver political results for the president in his primary areas of influence.
The meeting between the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the leadership and members of the APO Traders Association was held to finalize plans for the relocation of the traders to WASA.
During the interaction, the Minister reminded the traders of their commitment to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom they said had given them what previous administrations could not.
Wike personally staked his position on the line, stressing his confidence that nothing short of victory for President Tinubu would be the outcome in both the FCT and Rivers State.
In response, the traders expressed their appreciation to the Minister for his support and reiterated their pledge to vote for President Tinubu in the forthcoming election.
At the end of the meeting, the traders left the venue satisfied, expressing relief that the Minister had addressed a problem they said successive administrations had failed to resolve over the years.
