Kebbi State

About 44,000 women affinity groups across the three local government areas in Kebbi State are to benefit from a World Bank Programme, under Nigeria for Women Project.

The Kebbi State Deputy Governor Yumbe Dubai, who interacted with the groups said, an additional 18 local government councils were also recently approved to benefit from the gesture.

Yumbe Dubai, who is also the Chairman of the Steering and Technical Committee, said the Kebbi State Government has approved four hundred million Naira as Kebbi State’s counterpart funding, at a meeting held in Birnin kebbi.

Yumbe told local government representatives that the money is a loan which they must account for.

He said, 18 local governments got approval to join the first 3, and would be expected to go through training in the areas of savings and credit skills, financial education and life skills.

Yumbe added that the project had supported the first 3 local governments and will support the 18 remaining with individual grants, while the collective grant will commence soon this year.

It could be recalled that Nigeria for Women Project is a World Bank project that was introduced to improve the livelihood of women, through the targeted areas of each of the 6 geopolitical zones.
