5 die in fatal accident in Kogi-FRSC

The Kogi State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has confirmed the death of five persons in an auto crash in the state on Monday.

The State Sector Commander, Stephen Dawulung, who disclosed this to newsmen, in Lokoja, said three others sustained injuries in the crash.

Dawulung, who described the incident as very unfortunate said the auto crash occurred at Ogbagbo junction along Ejule-Ochadamu road at about 12.47 p.m. when a Nissan car collided with a Mazda car.

The Sector Commander explained that the Nissan car lost control while trying to avoid a pothole, veered off its lane and collided with the oncoming Mazda 323 car.

Out of eight persons involved in the fatal accident, four died instantly, while four sustained serious injuries.

The statement added that personnel, who rushed to the scene after a distress call rescued the injured four and rushed them to Enemona Hospital, Ejule in Ofu Local Council of Kogi where the fifth person died while receiving medical treatment.

The corpses of the five dead passengers have been deposited at the Morgue of the same Enemona Hospital, Ejule.

While condoling with the deceased’s families, Dawulung called on the Federal Government to repair the highways, most of which he said were riddled with potholes.
