About 500 participants are expected to attend the seventh edition of the 2022 Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, sustainable energy forum slated for Abuja in October 2022.
At a pre-event briefing, the Acting Director, Renewable and Rural Power Access, Federal Ministry of Power, Abubakar Ali, said Nigeria and the sub-region stand to benefit from the forum as it seeks to bring together major key players in the energy sector.
Ali also explained that renewable energy has all it takes to drive the economy and mitigate climate change.
He, therefore, urged local investors to key into the international opportunities to partake in the inflow of investment which will later turn into dollar flow into the country.

An Energy Policy Analyst at the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable and Energy Efficiency, Hyacinth Elayo, said the region has a pressing energy question that is unfolding.
An Executive Director at the center, Francis Sempore, said the challenges to be met to ensure that everyone has access to energy by 2030 are still very significant
.
He added that it is within this framework to accelerate the achievement of the objectives set by the Heads of State for access to energy in 2030.
