A 53-kilometre road project is expected to improve transport and access to markets for farming communities across four local government areas in Zamfara State.
Representatives of the communities welcomed the award of the construction contract during a visit to the State Commissioner for Works, Lawal Barau-Bungudu.
The road project will link communities across Gusau, Kaura Namoda, Bungudu and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas.
Representatives of the farming communities say they have waited years for the project.
During their visit to the Commissioner for Works, the delegation thanked Governor Dauda Lawal for awarding the contract.
The road is expected to ease the movement of farm produce to markets and improve access to essential services.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the governor, the Commissioner for Works, Lawal Barau-Bungudu, said the project formed part of the state government’s infrastructure development programme.
He said it was intended to improve living conditions in the benefiting communities.
For residents, the anticipated benefits include easier travel, better market access and improved links between farming communities across the four local government areas.
