Kano Police Arrest Thugs Who Attacked INEC Office In Takai

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested a group of hoodlums suspected to be political thugs who attacked the INEC Office in Takai LGA where election results were being collated on Sunday

In a statement signed by the state command Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Haruna, hoodlums attempted to set the Office ablaze.

Haruna added that the Police and other security agencies swiftly prevented the attack.

Four suspected thugs were arrested.

The collation of the results was concluded peacefully and an investigation is in progress.

The statement also stated that, on the same Sunday evening, reports were received that, while the collation of results was ongoing at Tudun Wada LGA INEC Office, a group of thugs in large numbers mobilized and attacked the Campaign Office of NNPP House of Representatives Candidate and sets the building ablaze with two unknown persons in a car inside the premises burnt to death as a result of the inferno.

The hoodlums again mobilized and attempted to block the road leading to the INEC Office.

Security personnel was immediately mobilised to the scene.

One of the thugs was fatally injured and was rushed to the Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

Four other suspected thugs were arrested, as well.

Haruna says the investigation is in progress.
