Following the supreme court’s judgement on accepting the old N500 and N1000 notes as legal tender from now till December 31, 2023, Some Traders in Bauchi say they are awaiting President Mohammadu Buhari’s official statement before accepting the old notes from their customers as legal tender.

According to them, since the commencement of the new policy, they have lost confidence in the Federal Government insisting that Nigerians are suffering with their own money in the bank.

The Yelwa Tudu market in Bauchi State North East Nigeria, has witnessed very low patronage even across the state due to the Naira redesign crisis.

The market these days according to the residents is not as attractive and busy as it used to be in the past.

Despite the supreme court order to accept the old Naira notes as legal tender from the general public, some traders say they are afraid to collect the old Currency from their customers.

while speaking with ait.live on the current situation in the country regarding the policy, some customers lament the untold hardship they have faced as a result of the policy.

They Advised the Federal Government to urgently release the over 900 Billion Naira claimed to have been mopped up from Nigerians or make the New redesigned ones available.
