A coalition of Women groups in Kogi state, North central Nigeria, have staged a “thank you” solidarity walk in appreciation of the roles played by fellow women in ensuring victory for the All-Progressives Congress in last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Kogi state.

Numbering over three thousand, the women walked round major streets of Okene metropolis and called on themselves to again, vote massively on Saturday for candidates of the APC in the state House of Assembly election across the state.

The women of all grades from different groups, professional associations and cultural backgrounds in Kogi state say they are determined to work and ensure the victory of the All-Progressives Congress, APC.

From the five local government areas in Kogi central senatorial district, they took over major streets in Okene town, in what they called “appreciation and solidarity walk” in respect of the role women played in ensuring the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Abubakar Ohere as President and senator elect respectively last Saturday.

The women who are in dire need of employment want the resuscitation of the Ajaokuta company to be a cardinal legislative agenda for the senator elect when he eventually gets to the National Assembly.

The professional women groups used the occasion to commend Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello, for his conscious efforts at including women in sensitive leadership positions, urging all those elected into legislative positions last Saturday to make women empowerment their priorities.
