The Police have rescued 14 persons from Munhaye forest in Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria after the victims spent 68 days in captivity.
A statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu said, on March 10, 2023, Police Tactical Operatives in conjunction with the vigilante while on Mop Up Operation at near Munhaye forest successfully dislodged some terrorists camp belonging to one terrorist’s Kingpin identified as Dogo Sule.
It said, in the course of the operation, the Police rescued 14 hostages comprising of two male adults, 7 female and five children of below the ages of two years.
The statement said, during debriefing the victims informed the Police detectives that, on January 1, 2023 at about 11pm large number of suspected terrorists armed with sophisticated weapons stormed Anguwar Mangoro and Gidan Maidawa villages in Gusau Local Government Area of the State and abducted them to their camp where they spent 68 days in captivity.

The victims who were in pathetic condition have been taken to the Police Clinic in Gusau for medical treatment and thereafter reunited with their families.
The Commissioner of Police, Kolo Yusuf congratulated the victims for regaining their freedom, and reassured the continuous commitment of the polic to protect lives and property of the citizens.
