NAIRA NOTES

Some Bank customers in Benin City, Edo state have commended the central of Nigeria CBN for the effort to push more cash into circulation in the face of the cash crunch that many businesses and individuals suffered since February.

This commendation is coming after the apex bank directed banks to make cash available to customers on Saturdays and Sundays starting from 25th of March 2023.

Many residents of Benin city, capital of Edo State were orderly trying to get cash after a long period of hardship to get cash.

They said the new directive has eased the tensions instigated by scarcity of New Naira notes.

They want the CBN to sustain the tempo at Automated Teller Machine ( ATM) points and other outlets to ease the cash crunch.

The Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria had in January stopped the use of the old two hundred, five hundred and one thousand naira notes in place of redesigned notes introduced by the apex bank.

But the Supreme Court ruled and extended the old notes validity to the end of this year.
