The Nigerian Senate has extended the implementation of the N819.536Bn 2022 supplementary budget to 30th June 2023
The extension follows a lead debate by the senate leader, Senator Gobir, Ibrahim (Sokoto East-Senate Leader) requesting the upper chamber for an extension of the supplementary Appropriation act
The proposal was given accelerated consideration and passed the first, second, and third readings.
The 2022 supplementary budget which was passed few days to the end of the 2022 fiscal year seeks to make available additional funds to cushion the effects of the 2022 flood on road infrastructure, agriculture, water infrastructure and completion of some ongoing critical projects that have achieved about 85% completion
Out of the total sum of N819 .5 billion,
Federal Ministry of Agriculture is expected to receive N69 Billion
Federal Ministry of Works and housing N704 Billion
Federal Ministry of Water resources N15.5Billion
Federal Capital Territory N30 Billion

The supplementary budget for the 2022 fiscal year is to fix various infrastructures destroyed by flood across the various states in the country
The nine critical projects proposed in the sectors cut across water supply, dam projects, and irrigation projects nationwide.
