Tricycle operators popularly called ‘Keke’ in Cross River State have called on the state Governor-elect, Bassey Otu, to look into the taxes collected by agents of state and local government authorities as he prepares to take over the leadership of the state.

At a rally organized to press home their demands in Calabar, the group pleaded with Otu to remove multiple taxations and end what they described as harassment and physical assaults to their members and other wrongs meted out to them by so-called revenue agents.

The group used the rally to congratulate the Governor-elect on his election victory, saying there are signs that his government will be pro-people as he personally joined them to listen to their plea.

The Governor-Elect, Bassey Otu joined by the Commissioner for International Development Cooperation, Inyang Asibong said all their demands will be looked into when he officially assumes office.

The Tricycle Operators which form a large part of the State Transportation system in Calabar and other urban Centres were among those exempted from paying taxes under the Ben Ayade Administration
