Nigeria Immigration Arrests 4 Libya- Bound Victims Of Trafficking In Kebbi

The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has arrested four victims of trafficking from Lagos State allegedly on their way to Libya and handed them over to NAPTIP,

The four victims, are three females between the ages of 22 and 30, and a male of 30 years old.

The victims were traveling alone when they were arrested by the Nigeria immigration officers in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State

The Comptroller of the NIS in the state, Mrs Rabi Bashir-Nuhu, disclosed this to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

The victims were intercepted at Yauri border patrol on Wednesday and Friday as they were travelling from Lagos to Sokoto state.

The male among them said he was going to Libya to secure a plumbing and bricklaying job.

The comptroller assured that NIS would not allow any suspicious character or person profiting from human trafficking to pass its net in the state.

In his response, the male victim, confirmed that he was going to Libya to get a job.

Receiving the victims, the Head of Operation of NAPTIP in the state, Sadiq Atiku, said the agency would carry out a thorough investigation of the matter.

“We appreciate NIS for making our job easier and we are going to investigate the matter thoroughly”.

The head of operation, Sadiq Atiku applauded the Nigeria Immigration Service for collaborating with the agency to eradicate human trafficking in the country.
