Officials of the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR in Gombe State, North-East Nigeria have started clamping down on illegal gas retail distributors for safety issues with 7 refill stations sealed in the state capital.

The Operations Controller, Maishera Yahaya says the exercise is in line with the Federal Government’s stance on ensuring safety of oil and gas installations and outlets in the country.

Another inspection of fuel service stations begins with a new vigour but same objective to ensure that sanity returns to the sale of petrol and gas in the downstream sector.

With a couple of petrol stations sealed attention shifts to the sale of Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG retail stations.

The DPR is worried by the increase in the number of operators that undertake the sale of gas without approved safety measures.

At an interactive session with journalists, the DPR Controller highlights the measures adopted by the agency on safety at retail points

The agency maintains it will continue to ensure safety with routine inspections.
