The Presidency has confirmed the resignation of the Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva to contest the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship primaries in Bayelsa State next month.
Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad in tweet on his official Twitter handle confirmed the development after weeks of speculations about the intention of the Minister.
Ahmad tweeted “Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and former Bayelsa state governor, H.E. Timipre Sylva, has resigned his appointment to contest in the next Bayelsa governorship election”.
Another close aide to the Minister also confirmed to our correspondent on Friday that the Minister had resigned his appointment and tendered his resignation letter to the President.

Sylva has been the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources since 2019 when President Buhari was re-elected.
Sylva was governor of Bayelsa from 2008 to 2012 when he lost his re-election bid to now Senator Seriake Dickson. He has since made several attempts to return as the number one citizen in Bayelsa State but failed.
