Police nab most wanted terrorist, cattle rustlers, 17 others in Zamfara

The Police in Zamfara State have arrested a most wanted suspected terrorist and cattle rustlers who have been terrorizing residents of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu, who paraded the suspects on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf, disclosed that its operatives also arrested 17 suspects in connection with the post-election violence, which resulted in the looting of assets, and the vandalizing of public, private and individuals properties in the state.

The suspected terrorist is identified as Suleiman Balarabe, 25 years old, who specialized in banditry and the kidnapping of innocent persons.

He was arrested on 29th March by Police operatives who acted on credible intelligence.

The police image maker in the state, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu, told journalists that police operatives nabbed three suspected cattle rustlers and intercepted three Toyota buses, loaded with suspected stolen cows, sheep, and goats from the Dansadau community in Maru Local Government of the state, and were heading to Gusau, the state capital on Friday, 31st March.

The arrest of the seventeen suspects brings the total of those arrested in connection with the incident to fifty- seven.

Some of them have confessed to having taken part directly or indirectly.

Items recovered from the suspects include eighteen cows, three goats, one sheep, two generators, a refrigerator, doors, windows, tables, chairs and electric wires.

Others are different calibres of electronics, sets of cushion chairs,
pieces of wrappers, Burglary proof for windows and columns of iron rods.
