Next of kin and families of deceased police officers who died in active service have received cheques as death benefits for loss of their loved ones.
Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG incharge of Zone 1, Sadiq Bello charged the families to use the money wisely.
Over N40 million was disbursed to the next of kin and families of deceased police officers from the Zone comprising of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States.
While distributing the cheques to 29 families, AIG Bello said the money is meant to ease the pain and suffering but not to replace their lost breadwinners.
The beneficiaries and families appreciated the police authorities for remembering them.
