The Nigerian Immigration Sevice says it will soon commence a clampdown on illegal migrants hiding at different locations in Calabar and other part of Cross River State, South-South Nigeria.
Cross River State Comptroller of the Service, Akin Akinrinsola made this known when he recieved the leadership of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ in his office.
Akinrinsola said illegal and undocumented foreigners living in Cross River State were a threat to national security, hence the need to partner with the media in carrying out the assignment.

He said intelligence reports have it that some of the illegal migrants engaged in various businesses ranging from scrap and metal business, hawking, and bureau-de-change in Calabar without valid travel documents.
On his part, the State Chairman of NUJ, Gill Nsa assured the Immigration boss of mutual working relationship, especially in providing useful information.
Cross River State shares international boundaries with Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Sào Tome and Principè on the water corridors with over 52 illegal routes which gives foreigners free entry and exit into the country.
