Wife of Nigeria’s President, Aisha Buhari, has extended her sympathy to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, over the disclosure that his son has tested positive to the Coronavirus.

Atiku had on Sunday night announced on both his verified Twitter account and his official Facebook page that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has been duly informed and that his son has been moved to the Isolation Centre at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagalada.

The post which has received over 11, 000 reactions and almost 6,000 shares on Facebook, with over 17,000 retweets has been one of the most interacted post on social media over the Coronavirus.

Atiku is the first public figure to make an open disclosure of a close family member affected by the Coronavirus.

Nigeria’s First Lady, in a tweet that has garnered over 8, 000 interactions, expressed her “deep sense of concern” praying for the quick recovery of Atiku’s son.

Your Excellency, It’s with deep sense of concern that i extend my sincere prayers towards the quick recovery of your dear son. Allah renu en Amin. https://t.co/5jigOmv7Dp

Aisha had last week announced via her verified Twitter handle that her daughter had just returned from the United Kingdom, one of the countries with a high burden of Coronavirus.

Just like Atiku, she failed to disclose the identity of the daughter referred to, but stated that she is on self-isolation in line with the guidelines provided by the Presidential Taskforce on Control of Coronavirus.
