One life was lost and over 70 houses were set ablaze as properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed over a disagreement over the coronation of a traditional chief in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, North East Nigeria.

The members of the community told ait.live that there is uncertainty in the area as some pockets of agitation are still ongoing in the community by some angry youths.

Houses containing grains such as maize beans and other valuable items were all set ablaze

Most of the victims who are rendered homeless were seen hanging around their burnt Houses while others sought refuge elsewhere in the neighboring communities.

According to them, the communal clash is coming eighteen years after the death of their previous traditional chief.

The clash has divided the members of the community into two, with both sides pointing accusing fingers at each other.

Bauchi State Police Command, through its spokesman Ahmed Wakil, has since issued a press statement confirming the incident, where he said, everything is under control and investigation is ongoing to bring the perpetrators to book.

At the time ait.live visited the community no security operatives were sighted, as community members called on the authorities to deploy security operatives in the area to calm the situation

The victims are calling for urgent assistance from well-meaning Nigerians, as well as the government, to cushion the effects of their sufferings.
