Ebonyi State Government in South East Nigeria has directed the closure of all its entry borders to vehicular movement starting from Saturday, March 28, 2020.
This is coming as confirmed cases of the deadly Coronavirus spread to more states in the country.
Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala in a statement in Abakaliki notes that the restriction of passengers and commuters coming in and out of Ebonyi State was a preventive measure to ensure that the spread of Coronavirus is curtailed.

“The position of Ebonyi State Government is that everybody should stay where he or she is until this unfortunate scourge of Coronavirus is over”.
According to the Ebonyi State Government, only vehicles on essential duties such as those conveying foodstuff, drugs, oil, petroleum and gas as well as construction materials are exempted from this order provided such vehicles do not carry any passengers.
The latest directive is coming just hours after the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi addressed residents on the Coronavirus pandemic, advising them to observe preventive measures such as social distancing, basic hygiene as well as banned all social activities that gather large crowds including weddings, burials and naming ceremonies in the State.
