Justice Aliyu Ashafa reserved a ruling after hearing an application by Opara for a contempt proceeding against the army chief and others who had disobeyed the earlier order of the court restraining them from demolishing Lungi Building Materials market in the Miatama district of the Federal Capital Territory.
The court had earlier issued an interim order restraining the Chief of Army Staff from demolishing the market but in sheer disregard for the order of the court, the army authorities went ahead to demolish the market, hence contempt proceeding was initiated against them.
Justice Shafa had earlier issued an interim order against the respondents not to trespass on the said property pending the determination of the matter.
