With less than 24 hours to the closure of all routes into Cross River State to stop the spread of Coronavirus, the State Government says enforcing such order with the influx of Cameroon refugees has become a big task.

Speaking at a media briefing in Calabar on Saturday, the Commissioner for Information, Asu Okang, said the new order of total lockdown will be enforced effectively from Sunday as part of measures to prevent the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Commissioner while urging church leaders, market women, transporters, and other stakeholders to adhere to the new order, said the directive will have no respect for anyone.

On her part, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu, said the influx of Cameroonian refugees has become a source of worry for the preventive measures taken by the State Government which needs urgent Federal Government Intervention.

While commending the effort of security agencies, especially the Nigeria Immigration Service for policing the borders, Dr. Edu said the Cameroonian refugees are familiar with all the illegal routes into Cross River State from their country, which has become a big challenge to the state.
