A Civil Society Organisation under the auspices of Natural Justice has expressed worries that despite the Nigerian Meteorological Agency’s, NIMET, early warning of devastating flooding in 2023 than the previous year, the Government at all levels was yet to take proactive steps to prevent Human, economic and environmental looming catastrophe.
This was made known during a training on reporting the Environment and Climate emergency through a climate justice lens in Port Harcourt.

The devastating effects of last year’s flooding that led to over one point nine million persons displaced, property worth millions of naira destroyed and over six hundred persons losing their lives remain indelible in the memory of Nigerians.
It was against this backdrop that the civil society organization Natural Justice raised the alarm about to lack move to check the looming disaster.
