A counterattack by Troops of Operation Hadin Kai in the Northeast, while conducting routine patrol turned deadly, after an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, planted by terrorists exploded leaving some soldiers dead or maimed.
A source said the bomb went off in Damasak, where troops were making an effort to deter suspected terrorists from attacking commuters.

The source said, at about 08: 30hrs while on halt, the armoured tank used by troops was damaged while a team carefully cordon and searched the general area.

The wounded soldiers were immediately evacuated by Nigeria Air Force, NAF helicopter to Maiduguri for medical attention.

As of the time of filing this report, the Army Headquarters is yet to comment.
