The Abuja Environmental Protection Board, AEPB, says the Garki International Market in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, remains shutdown until the general sanitation of the market improves.
AEPB Director, Osi Braimah, said this during an inspection tour of the market to ascertain the level of compliance with the waste evacuation directive by the Board.

Three days after the sealing up of the market for violation of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board Laws, the FCT Administration insists that the market remains under lock and key as the management is slow in evacuating refuse dumps littering the market
The administration said the reluctance or refusal to evacuate the refuse dumps can spark an epidemic outbreak in the market and beyond.
The management of Garki International Market however blames the shutting down of the market on the internal increase in the service charge by managers of the market.
