Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong who made this known to newsmen shortly after their discharge said one of the survivors was a medical worker with the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.

Dr. Ukpong explained that the nursing mother had to be given special treatment at home since she had a 7-month old baby and 2 other children aged 2 and 3 respectively in her care.

He commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for putting in place a means through which medical care was administered to the woman as there was no way she could have been brought with her 3 children into the facility, since none of the children had tested positive.

On the reported case of 50 medical workers awaiting testing at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH Dr. Ukpong said he was not aware of such number of people to be tested at the hospital as the one profiled and who met the criteria for testing was among those discharged today.

On contact tracing, the Commissioner disclosed that the State had so far done 458 contact tracing, indicating that about 99.1% attainment as acknowledged by NCDC.

He added that Governor Emmanuel had performed very well in the fight against the disease, especially judging by the huge number of Covid-19 infections and the gradual decline in the numbers of active cases, but urged Akwa Ibom people to continue observing the laid down precautionary measures in order to check the spread of disease in the State.
