Days after Rinji Peter, an undergraduate at the University of Jos was killed by soldiers of the Operation Safe Haven, OPSH in Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria, the family of the deceased is crying and seeking justice.

The brutal killing has drawn so much reactions from the family, people and the Plateau State Government on the cold relationship between security operatives and the people they are to protect.

It is a dark reality for the family of Rinji, as relations of the deceased are yet to come to terms with the brutal killing of their son, a 300-level student of History and International Studies at the University of Jos.

Being the only son, the grief of the father is enough to tell the story as he was unable to talk, but an uncle of the deceased garnered the emotional strength to speak for the family.

Outside the family house, there are protests by sympathisers. The public outrage attracted the attention of some members of the National and the State Assemblies with Governor Simon Lalong ordering a probe into the killing.

Meanwhile, the Special Task Force, STF in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Major Ibrahim Shittu, has claimed responsibility for the action while regretting the incident. The military authorities have assured that the culprit will be brought to book.

This brings little comfort to the family of the deceased, knowing the cost of losing a son at such a difficult time
