The Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA has asked Muslims to look out for the Crescent of Shawwal from Friday as the countdown to the end of Ramadan fast enters its final stages.

The NSCIA under the leadership of its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar II, also felicitates with the entire Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and all over the world on the 2020 Ramadan Fast.

In a statement, the Council says based on the advice of the National Moon Sighting Committee, Friday, the 22nd of May, 2020 which is equivalent to the 29th Ramadan, 1441 AH is the first day to look for the Crescent of Shawwal.

On that day, the moon will set few minutes before the sun which makes the sighting of the crescent practically impossible.

However, In compliance with the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet, the Sultan says the search for the crescent of Shawwal will follow immediately after sunset on Friday
