Police in Katsina say they have gunned down 2 suspected terrorists on their wanted list, and recovered one AK 47 rifle, while foiling a kidnap attempt, in Bindawa Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement by the Police spokesman, Assistant Superintendent, ASP Abubakar-Sadiq Aliyu, the police also said it recovered 5 rounds of 7.62-millimetre live ammunition.
According to Aliyu, the incident occurred on May 29, when terrorists in their numbers, armed with AK 47 riffles, shooting sporadically, attacked the residence of one Yahaya Usman, of Tani Village, in Bindawa Local Government Area, and inflicted a deep knife cut injury to his head, in an attempt to kidnap him.
The police spokesman added that upon receipt of the report, operatives attached to Bindawa Divisional Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, promptly responded and engaged the suspected terrorists in a fierce gun duel.

He said the action led the police to successfully foil the kidnap attempt, and rescue the victim.
The statement further added that, in the course of scanning the scene, two bodies of the neutralized suspected terrorists, and one Ak 47 riffle with five rounds of 7.62mm were recovered.
During the investigation, the bodies were later identified to be those of Sani Kokaya and Ummara, all of Kaita Local Government Area, suspected to be terrorists and arms smugglers, who have been on the command’s wanted list.
