As part of economic recovery from the financial crisis occasioned by the Coronavirus pandemic, the Delta State government has taken steps towards ensuring the protection of its developmental plans.

Briefing reporters in Asaba, the state capital, the Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, who reeled out the measures, said contractors handling projects especially road construction have been asked to swiftly move to their various sites before the rain intensifies.

Aniagwu said although the COVID-19 disease is yet to be conquered, the state government is desirous of opening up the state for economic growth including worship centres but the appropriate physical distancing, hand washing and other preventive measures must not be compromised.

The Commissioner said that information from the state Ministry of Works showed that a good number of the contractors are already busy on the various project sites.

He reinstated the state government’s determination to continue partnering with the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and to consolidate on the successes recorded so far.

The attention of private hospital operators was further drawn to the need to be cautious and professional in dealing with patients at this time so as not to fall victim of the virus when unsuspected persons present themselves for medical care.
