The Police in Borno State have imposed restriction of vehicular movement till noon on Eid day. The restriction will affect cars, tricycles, bicycles, wheelbarrows, and all animal-assisted form of transportation, especially in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Jere Local Government Areas.

This was made known in a statement signed and issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Borno State Command, DSP Edet Okon.

Worshippers are advised in the statement to arrive early at praying grounds nearest to their homes for security screening, to avoid rush.

They are further advised to ensure the use of face masks, and to observe social distancing and other safety measures put in place by government to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

While this has been the practice since the emergence of the Boko Haram terrorists, the statement further warns that bags, weapons or sharp objects of any kind will not be allowed into the praying grounds. It also reminds parents and guardians to be mindful of their children and wards to avoid incidents of missing persons.
