The Confederation of African Football, CAF, Director of competitions in Nigeria, Samson Adamu, has said that Africa needs to raise the standard and quality of its sports facilities to cover its current huge infrastructure deficit in the sector.
Speaking on an online event, in collaboration with UNESCO on Sports after COVID-19, Adamu said Africa must also invest heavily in growing the capacity of coaches, referees, and youth football.
He said the continental club competitions and AFCON remain Africa’s biggest drivers.

Speaking, former Green Eagles captain, Segun Odegbami, said Africa was yet to fully harness the business of football worth billions of dollars.
