Foreign service officers have been urged to be upright, honest, diligent, and emotionally stable in the discharge of their roles when posted as diplomats to various countries of the world.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Adamu Lamuwa, gave the advice in Abuja at the graduation of the 25th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy.

Lamuwa told the officers that the ultimate mandate is to defend, advance, and protect Nigeria’s interest.

Former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Martin Uhomoibhi, urged the graduands to consider themselves lucky, as only a few are privileged to fly the country’s flag, outside the shores of the country.

Uhomoibhi urged the officers to have empathy for all Nigerians no matter their status in any country they find themselves.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Marcus Olaniyi Ogunbiyi called on the graduating foreign service officers to acquaint themselves with the civil service rules, as it would guide them throughout their career.

One hundred and eighteen participants were issued certificates of attendance, having completed the course of study for the 25th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy, FSA.
